scenic fabrication
painting & construction
While I knew early in my career that I wanted to focus on design, I realized early that designing for the stage and for live events requires a better understanding of construction and fabrication than might otherwise be required of designers. You cannot design effectively for projects that must be built by hand if you have no conception of what it takes to build those elements. Over the last decade I have worked on the events team and for the scene shop at Seaworld San Antonio, been a design assistant focused on scenic painting at Stages Repertory Theatre in Houston, volunteered at Terror Nights Haunted House, and assisted in construction during my years of undergrad. While my primary focus in construction is in scenic painting, I also have skills in carpentry and the use of other fabrication materials such as fiberglass, foam, and silicone.
