Wyldacre Farm
Case Study
I had a freelance client reach out to me to design branding for their budding lifestyle blog. She wanted to take advantage of the Cottagecore trend and design something with a variety of flowers, insects, and other natural elements. She wanted something specifically more complicated than logos would usually be, as Cottagecore as a trend and style is built around excess and complication.

I started by making a palette - or, more accurately, by making two. I made a palette of what I considered general use colors - the main colors that would make up any design. Primary colors were two shades of dark green and two shades of a rose pink, with secondary colors of yellow, robins' egg blue, violet, and brown. I then made a massive chart with many different pastels across the rainbow spectrum I would use in more complex designs.

I made an initial, fully detailed, very complex version of the logo that could be used on banners and other art where full color and detail would shine. I created a secondary logo with less detail but still a variety of colors for more everyday use - for t-shirts and other merchandise particularly. I additionally created one-color, greyscale, and black and white versions for other uses as needed. Finally, I created an icon for use on social media and as a website tag from the first letter of the logo and its decorative elements, along with a border designed to look like stitches.
